Visa announces global expansion plans for Checkout – 16 new markets in 2015

20 februarie 2015

Today consumers from ten countries can sign up for Visa Checkout at www.visacheckout.com and start using the service. Over three million Visa Checkout accounts have been created to date, and Visa Checkout merchants see a 70%+ average conversion for existing users making a purchase.

In the coming months, Visa will extend the service into new regions, so that by the end of 2015 Visa Checkout will be available in the following 16 markets: the U.S., Australia, and Canada, where the product first launched in July 2014, as well as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Hong Kong, Peru, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and United Arab Emirates, according to press release.

Consumers in newly-enabled markets will first be able to use Visa Checkout to buy from merchants in the U.S., Australia and Canada that accept Visa Checkout today and have the ability to process shipping internationally. As the rollout continues this year, select markets will begin to incorporate issuer, merchant, acquirer, and channel partnerships to support local commerce with Visa Checkout. Visa will also launch localized Visa Checkout websites for many of these markets.

“Visa Checkout has seen tremendous growth in the U.S., Canada and Australia in just the few months since its launch,” said Sam Shrauger, senior vice president of Digital Solutions at Visa. “Consumers and merchants alike love its simplicity and ease, which is particularly important as people shop and buy more frequently on smaller devices like phones and tablets. Building on this positive momentum, we are aggressively carrying the service into new markets across the world throughout 2015 and beyond.”

Visa Checkout is an online service from Visa that makes it easier to pay using a computer, tablet or mobile phone. Consumers simply store their shipping and payment information in a secure account with Visa once, and they never have to re-enter it again when shopping online at merchants who offer Visa Checkout. When a user sees the Visa Checkout button as a payment option, they simply log into their account, enter their username and password, and click a button to complete the purchase.

More specific details about Visa Checkout’s early momentum and its continuing global expansion will be available at http://visatechmatters.tumblr.com/.
Visa will demonstrate Visa Checkout at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain (Hall 6, stand D40) during March 2-5, 2015.
