Multiples reports that UK has now 28 fintech unicorns after Marshmallow the insurance start-up for migrants raised a $90M series C at over $2B valuation. Of 28 UK-based FinTech Unicorns, 9 are valued at over $5bn, 11 are valued at over $2bn (but below $5bn) and 8 are valued at over $1bn (but below $2bn).
Plenty of great fintech companies in the UK, but there is only one king Revolut, currently valued at $45B, is reportedly eyeing a secondary share sale that would increase the neobank’s valuation to $60B, significantly higher than its publicly-listed rival Wise ($13B market cap) and Monzo Bank ($6B valuation).
Another interesting statistics about UK fintech startups is that $5.1bn were invested across 400+ deals in the UK only in 2024, representing more funding than France, Germany, China, India, Brazil and Canada combined.
