The European Payments Council (EPC) launched a public ‘call for interest’ to participate in the SEPA Payment Account Access (SPAA) scheme tactical pilot. This initiative is aimed at Asset Holders (i.e., Account-Servicing Payment Service Providers (ASPSPs)) and Asset Brokers (e.g., Payment Initiation Service Providers (PISPs) or Account Information Service Providers (AISPs)), and is set to start in September 2024.
For detailed information on the tactical pilot’s purpose, scope, key principles, and timeline, please refer to document EPC137-24. Read more here.
How to participate
Interested Asset Holders and Asset Brokers are invited to submit their intent to participate via email to SPAA@epc-cep.eu by 24 June 2024, midnight Brussels time. Please use the response form EPC136-24, to submit your response.
Participation in the tactical pilot is not subject to SPAA scheme participation, nor does it imply participation in the subsequent strategic pilot phase (see below and in document EPC137-24).
What’s next?
A three-month tactical pilot phase is expected to start in September 2024, contingent on the results of this call for interest. A strategic pilot phase is planned for 2025 (subject to inter alia EPC Board approval).
