Ecommerce in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (also known as the DACH region) reached a consolidated volume of more than 100 billion euros. The German-speaking ecommerce markets are now generating more sales than any other language area in Europe, according to presseportal.de
In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the average order per capita was around 1,000 euros a year. That’s significantly more than, for example, in France (67 million inhabitants and around 46.4 billion euros in comparable e-commerce volume), but still considerable less than in the UK (82.6 billion euros market volume, approx. 1233 euros per capita and year).
Together, the German-speaking markets account for a quarter of the e-commerce sales in the USA.
Almost 100 million people live in the DACH region, whereas Germany is the biggest contributor, with 81,4 million people.
