Germany-based supermarket Lidl has announced launching a new payment option in the Lidl Plus app in Germany and introducing personalised product offers.
With the scan of the Lidl Plus app at the checkout, customers can easily redeem their coupons in one step, pay with Lidl Pay if desired and then receive their instant win and their digital receipt.
So that as many customers as possible can use this simple payment option, payment is made by direct debit via the current account. To activate, customers have to enter their bank details and address under „Lidl Pay” in the Lidl Plus app and assign a pin.
If customers want to pay with Lidl Pay, they have to confirm this briefly with their pin, fingerprint or Face ID before scanning the Lidl Plus app. At the end of the checkout process, the Lidl employee asks at the checkout whether the payment should be made with Lidl Pay.
After using Lidl Pay for the first time, customers receive a coupon for 5 euros, which can be redeemed for the next purchase of 30 euros or more.
First personalized content at Lidl Plus
In addition to the new payment option, customers are now shown, for example, personalized content based on their previous shopping behavior. In the first step, there are up to 40 product recommendations that are updated twice a week.
The Lidl Plus app is extremely popular with customers. It has already been downloaded several million times in Germany and is consistently at the top of the most popular shopping apps.
