The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has launched an inquiry into cash management giant Brink’s’ planned $6.6 billion deal to buy ATM operator NCR Atleos. In a brief notice the CMA says that, with an invitation to comment on the merger now closed, it has launched the investigation. „The deadline for the CMA to announce its decision whether to refer the Merger for a phase 2 investigation is therefore 22 October 2026.” – according to the notice.
Brinks and NCR Atleos struck the cash and stock transaction in February, paving the way for the creation of what the players at the time said would be a „leading financial technology infrastructure” player. The combined company is anticipated to generate approximately $10 billion in total revenue.
With a global footprint of more than 140 countries, the combined entity would bring together Brink’s’ global cash management expertise and route-based infrastructure with NCR Atleos’ end-to-end ATM management and services expertise as well as its owned-and-operated ATM network and fast-growing ATM as a Service outsourcing offering.
NCR Atleos has the largest independent network of ATMs consisting of approximately 78,000 owned and operated ATMs in secure, high foot-traffic retail locations, which are a portion of NCR Atleos’ expansive total global installed base of approximately 600,000 ATMs.
