Omnichannel payment platforms to see over 170% growth in the value of transactions processed globally by 2031, as merchants capitalise on payment data

26 octombrie 2026

New research from global tech strategists Juniper Research has found that the value of transactions accepted by omnichannel payment platforms will rise from $2 trillion in 2026 to $5.4 trillion in 2031.

This significant growth is being driven by merchants adopting omnichannel payment platforms to accept increasingly popular alternative payment methods across their in-store and eCommerce operations. As alternative methods such as Pay by Bank become more common, accepting a wide range opens up a larger potential customer base.

The report identified that the most popular payment method varies significantly by country, region and demographic. Therefore, platform vendors must ensure that local payment preferences are met when entering new markets, or global platforms will fall behind better equipped local specialists.

Payment Data Intelligence Drives Personalisation Strategies

The report emphasised the importance of using omnichannel payment platforms to consolidate payment data from across all sales channels; creating benefits beyond boosted payments acceptance. This data is used to create more accurate customer profiles, and facilitate the development of segmentation, personalisation, and new marketing strategies. Omnichannel payment platforms can also integrate with customer service agents; giving agents instant access to this data when resolving customer queries.

Report author Michael Greenwood commented, “Unifying data from all payment channels can also streamline stock management. Integrating omnichannel payment platforms with enterprise resource planning systems allows sales from all channels to be tracked, and a real-time stock list to be maintained. This streamlines a business’s stock management; allowing it to maximise procurement efficiency.”
