The international roll-out of the partnership between Paysafe and Monese starts in France, with plans to extend the availability of the service into an additional 11 countries over the next few months. These additional countries are Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Spain.
Monese has partnered with leading specialised payments platform, Paysafe, to provide its customers with access to cash services. „Paysafe’s eCash solution, Paysafecash, can now be used by millions of consumers to top up Monese accounts directly with cash,” according to the press release.
Monese already has over 40,000 cash top up locations in the UK – the new partnership boosts the total number to more than 110,000 across Europe. In total Paysafecash is available at around 170,000 payment points in 28 countries (including USA and Canada).
Monese customers can now conveniently add cash into their account by selecting Paysafecash as the top up method. This generates a barcode which they can take to a nearby Paysafecash payment point to make the payment in cash.
„Now, we’re excited to be expanding our cash top-up feature, starting with customers in France. We’re partnering with Paysafe, so you can conveniently add money to your Monese account with cash at more than 11,000 Paysafecash payment points throughout the country,” Monese said in a blog post.
Norris Koppel, Founder and CEO of Monese, commented, „Since the very beginning, our vision for Monese has been to create an inclusive and instant, on-demand way for people to manage their personal finances – without the restrictions that are imposed by so many traditional financial institutions. By partnering with Paysafe and including Paysafecash as a top up method, we are further expanding our ability to offer a truly accessible service and more freedom of choice to those customers who continue to rely on cash.”
Udo Müller, CEO of paysafecard, the team behind Paysafecash, added: “The partnership between Monese and Paysafe reflects a collaboration between one of the most innovative banking services with a leading provider of alternative payment methods. Our eCash network is extremely well established and continually expanding, putting us in a unique position to be able to bridge the gap between digital banking and cash, which remains a cornerstone of the payment landscape in many countries.”
How does it work
Step 1: Open your app, tap ‘Add money’ and find the Paysafecash option.
Step 2: Once you’ve selected this, choose the amount you want to add (if it’s your first time topping up this way, we’ll ask you to set up your Paysafecash profile — you’ll only need to do this once).
Step 3: A barcode will be created, which you can download to your phone and show at any participating Paysafecash location. The available sites will show up on your screen so you can find the one closest to you.
Step 4: Once at your chosen location, hand your barcode to the cashier to scan and pay them the amount you’d like to deposit. They’ll give you a receipt. Your money should be in your account within the hour.
When using Paysafecash, here are some important things to keep in mind:
. The generated barcode has an availability of 2 hours, after which it expires.
. If the barcode has expired and becomes invalid, you’ll need to create a new barcode via your Monese app.
Depending on your Monese plan, fees may apply: if you’re on Simple, 2.5% of the top-up amount (minimum €2) will apply. If you’re on Classic, you’ll pay no fees within the limits of your allowance. Once you go over your limit, a fee of 2% of the top-up amount (minimum €2) will apply. And if you’re on Premium, you pay no fees! Fees are only charged once the top-up is complete and the money has landed in your account.
If your money isn’t in your account within six hours, contact Paysafecash customer care using the information presented in your receipt.
For the time being, top-ups via Paysafecash are available for Monese EUR accounts for customers who live in France.
„Tendinţele pe care le-am remarcat înainte de începerea pandemiei s-au accelerat pe perioada stării de urgenţă. Am văzut acest lucru ca o oportunitate, un tipping point pentru bancă. Post-pandemie nu avem cum sa ne întoarcem la comportamentul financiar pe care îl aveam până în februarie a.c. Relaţia românilor cu online-ul s-a schimbat. In plus, cardul fizic se va dematerializa. Vom asista la o scădere a cererii pentru cardurile fizice, respectiv la o creştere a preferinţei pentru componenta digitală a acestora.”
