Mihai Alisie, co-founder of Ethereum: „Support universities offering blockchain education”

21 iunie 2019

At Romania Blockchain Summit, Mihai Alisie – the co-founder Ethereum, made some comments on Iceland becoming the first country in the world to launch an e-money license for blockchains, issued under EU regulations. As big advantages, Mihai mentioned that e-money on blockchains removes intermediaries and automates processes in many sectors including payments, trade finance, securities settlement, and ecommerce.

E-money is an established legal framework for issuing a “digital alternative to cash” and the best possible proxy for Central Bank Digital Currency available. The platform has been launched by Monerium, an e-money platform based on open standards and designed to support decentralized financial applications on any blockchain.

Then Mihai continued to talk about Facebook and their Libra project, which generates strong reactions and instant opposition from major politicians like finance ministry in France, „which is the right thinking.”

In this context, Ethereum’s co-founder, at the end of his presentation, came-up with some suggestions for authorities, „actionable ideas”, to improve the impact of blockchain technology in our lives. Here there are:

. Focus on use cases instead of regulating „blockchain”
. Support universities offering blockchain education
. Nurture local blockchain communities
. Organize national and international hackathons
. Think beyond „cryptocurrency”
. Pilot programs with blockchain, DIDs, VCs, etc.
