Crédit Agricole accelerates its growth in Germany with the launch of Crédit Agricole Deutschland

12 octombrie 2026

The new universal bank will be a key lever in the Group’s ambition to double its customer base across its German businesses to two million by the end of 2028.

Crédit Agricole, the world’s ninth-largest bank, is launching Crédit Agricole Deutschland, „a new universal bank designed with a digital-first approach for German retail customers” – according to the press release. Building on more than 70 years of presence in Germany through its leading specialised business lines, the Group already serves one million customers in the country. The new universal bank will combine a fully digital customer journey enhanced with AI with accessible human support, an established local presence, and the financial strength and capabilities of Crédit Agricole’s European leading producers.

With a particular focus on affluent customers and their savings and wealth-building needs, the bank will differentiate itself through a strong savings proposition, alongside everyday banking solutions. Its offering will then be progressively broadened to address more of its customers’ financial needs. It will rely on 20 branches and 600 employees from Creditplus in Germany’s main cities.

Available to the public from the end of October 2026, Crédit Agricole Deutschland marks a major milestone in the execution of ACT 2028, Crédit Agricole S.A.’s medium-term strategic plan, and supports its ambition to reach two million customers across its German businesses by the end of 2028.

Olivier Gavalda, CEO of Crédit Agricole S.A., says: “Germany is at the heart of our European ambition. Building on more than 70 years of presence in the country, we are entering a new chapter by deploying our universal banking model in Europe’s largest economy. By combining the full range of our expertise and putting the strength of a major European banking group at the service of German households and businesses, we aim to support investment, innovation and growth. In doing so, we want to contribute to build a stronger, more competitive and more autonomous Europe.”

Stéphane Priami, Deputy General Manager of Crédit Agricole S.A. in charge of International Banking and Services division underscores: “Following the launch of Crédit Agricole Savings in April 2026, we are taking our ambition a step further with Crédit Agricole Deutschland. Savings are at the heart of our proposition and provide a natural starting point for building long-term relationships with German customers. The universal bank will progressively give them access to a broader range of solutions drawing on the expertise of the Group’s specialised businesses, together with a high-quality digital experience.”

From the end of October 2026, Crédit Agricole Deutschland will offer retail customers:

. Current account with a German IBAN

. Visa card that provides access to 49,000 ATMs in Germany and Visa ATMs worldwide*

. Savings solutions, including Tagesgeld and Festgeld deposits

. Mobile app for onboarding, account management and product subscription

. Access to customer support by phone from Monday to Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., email and live chat.

The Crédit Agricole Deutschland offer will expand progressively in response to customer needs and feedback. From 2027, Crédit Agricole Deutschland plans to add wealth-building solutions, credit products, enhanced advisory services and premium packages, alongside additional self-service features and support for mobile wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay. Drawing progressively on the products and expertise available across the Group, German customers will gain access over time to a broader range of savings, personal financing and insurance solutions, with the ambition of making Crédit Agricole Deutschland their primary bank.

A digital-first universal bank, powered by AI and human support

Crédit Agricole Deutschland is designed to combine the strength and expertise of a leading universal banking group with simplicity, agility and user experience expected from a next-generation digital bank. Technology and data-driven capabilities will help streamline customer journeys, enhance service efficiency and, over time, deliver increasingly personalized support. Artificial intelligence will be deployed progressively, wherever it brings tangible value to customers and contributes to improving service quality.

Under the promise “Think Big for Your Money”, Crédit Agricole Deutschland offers a seamless, intuitive and largely self-directed customer experience, while ensuring access to personalized support whenever needed. This model combines the efficiency and convenience of digital banking with the trust, expertise and reassurance of human relationships, backed by the financial strength, specialist capabilities and innovation power of Crédit Agricole, one of Europe’s leading banking groups.

To support its launch, the bank will rely on a network of 20 branches located across Germany’s main cities. From day one, locations in Berlin, Stuttgart, Frankfurt and Munich will welcome visitors in dedicated spaces designed to showcase the bank’s offering and digital services. The remaining branches will serve as information and guidance hubs, while account opening and product subscriptions will be carried out directly through the mobile application.

Amir Djourabtchi, CEO of Crédit Agricole Deutschland, declares: “German customers expect banking to be straightforward, transparent and secure, without having to choose between digital convenience and reliable human support. Our aim is to earn customers’ trust and support their financial needs over the long term.”
