The BIS Innovation Hub London Centre invites companies and organisations interested in developing API prototypes for distributing CBDCs to submit expressions of interest to join the Project Rosalind users and advisors’ group.
The group will be structured into two tiers – API users and technical advisors, with different roles and responsibilities for each.
Project Rosalind, led by the BISIH London Centre, aims to address some of the questions around developing a retail CBDC system, including: how to improve public-private sector collaboration? How to maximize interoperability, encourage competition and enable adoption? How might retail CBDC meet current and future consumer needs in a fast-changing payments landscape?
A joint experiment with the Bank of England, Project Rosalind aims to develop prototypes for an API. Based on a two-tier distribution model (central bank at the foundation of the retail CBDC system and customer-facing activities carried out by the private sector), the objective is to explore how this interface could best enable a central bank ledger to interact with private sector service providers to safely provision retail payments.
It will also look at some of the functionalities required to enable a diverse and innovative set of use cases to be developed by the private sector. Through this experimentation, the project aims to study how best to lay the foundation for building a robust and vibrant ecosystem.
The project is named after British scientist Rosalind Franklin, whose work was key to understanding DNA sequencing. It is purely experimental and does not reflect any intentions by the Bank of England on CBDC policy, design or launch.
Please submit your expression of interest by 8th July. We will also host two Q&A sessions (see below) before the submission date to answer any questions you may have on this invitation. Please email Amy.Jiang@bisih.org and Londoncentre@bisih.org to register.
Q&A session 1 on 29th June 2022 at 1-2pm (BST)
Q&A session 2 on 5th July 2022 at 1-2pm (BST)
„Dupa ce oamenii creeaza un cont PayByFace si au adaugat cardul, selfi-ul si PIN-ul, si au avut un pic de curaj sa se duca sa incerce, daca au incercat o data plata prin recunoastere faciala nu mai folosesc altceva (n.r. ca modalitate de plata). 80% dintre ei numai asta folosesc. Le place la nebunie.”
