Partnership will enable PayPal to expand in person payments on a global scale, marking the first-of-its-kind omnichannel engagement for the company.
PayPal Holdings Inc. and Verifone announced an expanded partnership to deliver seamless omnichannel payment acceptance solutions to enterprise merchants. „This strategic partnership will bring together Verifone’s in-person payment assets with PayPal’s enterprise payment processing and e-commerce capabilities, known as Braintree, to offer merchants a flexible and scalable omnichannel payments acceptance solution.” – according to the press release.
“This partnership marks a major shift in how PayPal is approaching the omnichannel enterprise opportunity,” said Alex Chriss – President and CEO, PayPal. “In collaboration with Verifone, we are unlocking a new path to mass adoption of in-person payments, which will allow us to scale quickly and bring the full power of PayPal to the global merchant community.”
Through this expanded partnership, PayPal and Verifone will be well positioned to help merchants across verticals including large retail, grocery, quick-service restaurants, ticketing, entertainment, consumer electronics, apparel and more, to capitalize on the global retail market opportunity and grow their business.

This omnichannel offering will be a part of PayPal’s recently announced merchant platform, PayPal Open. With PayPal Open, merchants of all sizes can easily access the entire PayPal ecosystem and integrate a full suite of commerce solutions to help them power payments, fuel growth, and operate smarter. As an open ecosystem, merchants can build custom solutions, access third party tools, and benefit from PayPal’s global network of more than 400 million active customer accounts.
PayPal Open will launch soon in the US and expand to the UK and Germany later this year. Additional markets will follow in 2026.
