payabl. opens Amsterdam office and launches new POS solution to accelerate European expansion

14 iunie 2023

payabl. announces the opening of a new office in the Netherlands as part of its European expansion strategy. Also, the payments company announced the launch of its point-of-sale (POS) solution for in-person payments.

„We are cementing our presence in Zuidas, Amsterdam, a prominent FinTech hub – ranked as the 2nd biggest FinTech nation in the EU (behind London) – and home to a number of key global FinTech players. The new location is viewed as a gateway to Europe for FinTech, and is renowned for its strong tech ecosystem, financial sector and progress towards digital and cashless payments.” – according to the press release.

The Netherlands has one of the highest rates of cashless payments in the world, with over 60% of transactions being made electronically, and debit card payments accounting for 88% of all card payment transactions. As a result, the city was an obvious choice for payabl. to expand into Europe even further, in addition to its offices in Germany, Cyprus, Italy, Poland, Lithuania, and the UK.

„So far this year, we have been on a growth trajectory, recently being named as the fastest growing payments company in the Middle East and Cyprus, as part of Deloitte Technology Fast 50 for the region. In addition, the business recently joined the Visa Direct Preferred Partner programme. These impressive milestones, recognitions and achievements underline our momentum, and further expansion into Europe is the natural next step to continue this.” – the company explains.

At the same time, payabl. is steadily progressing towards launching payabl.one, a new platform to cater for all financial needs of merchants, including banking services, acquiring, issuing and local payment solutions, in one place.

Ugne Buraciene – Group CEO at payabl. said: “As we continue to expand our reach and diversify our offering, international expansion will play a crucial role. Amsterdam is the gateway into payments and FinTech in Europe, and demand for innovative payment technology in the Netherlands continues to grow. We look forward to working with businesses in the region to meet this increasing need”.

In terms of diversifying its offering, the payments company announced the launch of its point-of-sale (POS) solution for in-person payments. Initially to be rolled out in Cyprus with other countries to follow, the payabl. POS terminals will allow retailers to embrace the possibility of omnichannel selling, and accept transactions made with Visa and Mastercard as well as mobile payments like Google and Apple Pay.

Research from Harvard Business Review reveals that omnichannel shoppers spend 4% more on every buying occasion in store, versus single-channel shoppers. The payabl. POS terminals aim to unlock this potential, by creating an easier omnichannel payment experience for retailers, allowing them to use one provider for both online and in-store payments. The launch of the terminals also acts as a key catalyst in payabl.’s ambition to become a single provider for the entire spectrum of merchants’ payment needs.

With the addition of the payabl. POS terminal, we’ve filled in the missing piece of our platform and achieved a full product suite that seamlessly combines card-not-present and card-present transaction processing. This empowers merchants with a unified, omnichannel platform, ensuring convenience and efficiency throughout their operations. The launch is part of our steady progress towards unveiling payabl.one, a new platform which will cater for all financial needs of merchants.” said Ugne Buraciene, Group CEO at payabl.
