N26 reports 3.5 million customers in 24 markets. Around half of new customers have joined because of recommendations from family and friends.

Fintech startup N26 just issued an update on its main metrics. The mobile-only bank now has 3.5 million customers across 24 markets. Around half of new customers join N26 because of recommendations from family and friends who are already existing customers.

If you look at past milestones, N26 announced reaching 2 million customers back in November 2018, 2.5 million customers in February 2019. So growth is still accelerating when it comes to user registrations.


N26 is a truly global employer with over 1300 employees across 60 nationalities, as well as headquarters in Berlin, offices in New York and São Paulo, and TechHubs in Barcelona and Vienna.

„This means that N26 is well and truly on its way to becoming a global bank – and there’s no intention of slowing down.”, the fintech said.

The company is about to expand to new countries, such as the U.S. and Brazil. But even more important than the number of users, N26 currently handles a volume of €2 billion per month — it represents 400 transactions per minute.

„We’re moving full steam ahead and alongside plans to enter the Brazilian market later this year, we’re also taking things stateside. With a launch in the US imminent, we’re very excited to reach even more customers to offer a mobile banking experience that’s simple and flexible, without any hidden fees.”

In addition to the Eurozone, N26  is currently available in the U.K., Denmark, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Liechtenstein and Iceland.
