Mollie launches in Slovakia, expanding to 17 new European markets – including Romania – in less than two years; three more entries expected soon

12 iunie 2026

Mollie’s expansion across Europe has been ongoing since November 2024, when it entered Italy as its first new market in this phase of growth. Since then, the company has expanded its operations to Sweden (April 2025), Portugal (May 2025), the Czech Republic (July 2025), Slovenia (July 2025), Hungary (July 2025), Denmark (September 2025), Norway (September 2025), Finland (September 2025), Spain (November 2025), Greece (March 2026), Romania (April 2026), the Baltics—Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania (June 2026)—Bulgaria (June 2026), and Slovakia (June 2026). Austria, Germany and Poland are on the map for further expansion in the following months.

Marking another key step in its accelerated European expansion, Mollie, one of Europe’s fastest-growing financial service providers, announces its official launch in Slovakia. The expansion into the strategic heart of Central Europe brings a modern, effortless payment platform to the market, empowering Slovakian businesses to accelerate their cross-border growth and solidifying Mollie’s drive for a dominant presence across the continent. Mollie currently supports over 250,000 merchants across the UK and Europe.

Slovakia is home to a rapidly maturing e-commerce market, with many successful online brands poised for international expansion. However, as these businesses look to enter competitive Western European markets, they often face new challenges: managing multiple currencies, offering diverse local payment methods, and dealing with complex cross-border reconciliation.

„Mollie is designed to solve this. The platform provides a single integration to access all essential payment methods, including major credit and debit cards and digital wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay, as well as a full suite of Europe’s leading local payment methods. This allows Slovakian businesses to offer a truly localized checkout experience in every market, simplifying operations and boosting conversion rates.” – according to the press release.

Slovakia’s position in Central Europe makes it a critical market for us as we accelerate our expansion across the region. This launch is another milestone in our journey to become the leading payment partner for businesses continent-wide,” says Koen Köppen, CEO of Mollie. „We see many successful Slovakian businesses ready to take the next step, and our mission is to provide them with a single, effortless platform that removes the barriers to international success. By simplifying cross-border payments, we empower Slovakian merchants to compete and win anywhere in Europe.

The launch in Slovakia marks Mollie’s 17th new market entry since November 2024, underscoring the company’s commitment to accelerating e-commerce growth across Europe.
