Payconiq’s Luxembourg merchant portfolio has been transferred to Buckaroo as preparations continue for rollout of European payments app. The transfer marks the operational start of a strategic partnership between Buckaroo, Payconiq International and the European Payments Initiative (EPI). „As a result, Buckaroo becomes the payment service provider for affected Payconiq merchants in Luxembourg.” – according to Luxembourg Times.
“With the transition of Payconiq’s merchant portfolio to Buckaroo as the new merchant service provider, Wero will be available to all merchants in Luxembourg as a payment solution. We are excited to begin serving the Luxembourg market.” said Martina Weimert, CEO of EPI Company.
Luxembourg is expected to join the Wero network in June 2026, with five major retail banks – Spuerkeess, BGL BNP Paribas, Banque Internationale à Luxembourg, Post Luxembourg and Banque Raiffeisen – already signed up.
Wero is Europe’s attempt to build a continent-wide alternative to dominant global payment platforms like Apple Pay and PayPal. Already live in Germany, France and Belgium, the wallet allows users to send and receive money between bank accounts in under ten seconds, using only a phone number, email address or QR code.
