The Ministry of Economic Development of Italy has announced that certain blockchain projects will qualify to apply for up to 45 million euro in government subsidies starting from September.
In a Tuesday announcement, the Ministry said companies and public or private research firms will be able to apply for funding from the government for the development of projects related to artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things and blockchain technology.
Starting from 21 September 2022, companies and public or private research centers, even jointly, will be able to apply for subsidies to carry out research and technological innovation projects related to the transition 4.0 program.
To facilitate the preparation of the application, a pre-compilation phase has also been planned from 14 September which will allow the insertion of the documentation on the online platform to be started.
“We support companies’ investments in cutting-edge technologies with the aim of encouraging the modernization of production systems through management models that are increasingly interconnected, efficient, safe and fast,” declares Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti. “The challenge of competitiveness – he adds – requires the manufacturing industry to constantly innovate and grasp the potential of new technologies”.
For the purposes of eligibility for subsidies, the projects must include expenses and eligible costs of no less than 500,000.00 euros and no more than 2,000,000.00 euros.
