Former Governor of Bank of England joins Stripe board

Mark Carney, the former Governor of the Bank of England and Bank of Canada, joins the Board of Directors of the web payments Stripe, according to a press release.

Ten years since launching, millions of businesses in over 40 countries now use Stripe’s infrastructure to power hundreds of billions of euros of payments from customers in over 140 countries and territories around the world.

Regulated in multiple jurisdictions and partnering with several dozen financial institutions around the world, Stripe will benefit from Mark Carney’s extensive experience of global financial systems and governance.

Stripe, which last raised a $600 million series G in mid-2020, is currently contemplating an IPO that would give it a valuation of $105 billion.
