Evrotrust has completed an eIDAS 2 audit and received seven certifications covering qualified trust services, remote identification methods and attribute verification

15 aprilie 2026

Romania is entering the preparation phase for eIDAS 2 and the EU Digital Identity Wallet. At European level, Evrotrust has completed an eIDAS 2 audit covering a number of certified trust and identity services and methods, while also maintaining its status as a notified eID scheme.

Romania is moving from digital strategy to implementation. For companies and institutions, that changes the conversation. The question is no longer whether digital identity and trusted digital transactions will become standard. The question is who is already ready to deliver them in a legally valid, secure and practical way.

That question matters now. EU Member States are expected to make European Digital Identity Wallets available by the end of 2026. In parallel, Romania is advancing major digital infrastructure projects, including its electronic identity card rollout, government cloud migration and wider digital public service modernization.

Evrotrust enters this phase with infrastructure that is already audited at EU level and already recognized in Romania. The company completed an eIDAS 2.0 audit among the first in Europe and received seven certifications covering qualified trust services, remote identification methods and attribute verification.

In Romania, Evrotrust is also registered by the Authority for the Digitalization of Romania, ADR, as an electronic identity service provider.

For the Romanian market, this is no longer just a compliance story. It is an implementation story. Banks, fintechs, telecom operators, insurers, utilities and public institutions are under growing pressure to digitize customer journeys, reduce friction, cut paper-based work and stay ready for the next EU identity framework. At the same time, they face rising fraud pressure and stricter expectations around security, auditability and legal certainty.

Evrotrust says its audited setup gives Romanian organizations a way to move now, not later. In simple terms, these certifications confirm that Evrotrust can securely verify identities remotely, support legally valid digital communication and delivery, and check key data such as bank account details or information from official records.

For businesses, this makes it easier to onboard customers faster, complete more processes online, reduce paperwork and manual review, and operate with greater legal certainty. For organizations operating across borders, the company says this makes it easier to build one compliant process for both Romania and the wider EU market.

“Romania now has the digital infrastructure it needs to meet the European requirements of 2026 and 2027. Evrotrust is not here with a promise for the future – we are talking about infrastructure that is already audited and recognized, available to Romanian companies right now. Companies that act now are not just ticking a regulatory box. They are building a competitive advantage”, commented Valentina Dragomir, Country Manager Romania at Evrotrust.

Evrotrust says this matters not only for regulated sectors, but also for the wider Romanian economy. As more services move online, the quality of digital identity and trust infrastructure will directly affect how quickly companies can acquire customers, sign contracts, prevent fraud and serve users across borders.
