European Payments Council launches a public consultation on draft document “Interoperability of mobile initiated SEPA (instant) credit transfers based on NFC or Bluetooth Low Energy”

10 ianuarie 2023

Today the European Payments Council (EPC) is launching a public consultation on the draft document “Interoperability of mobile initiated SEPA (instant) credit transfers (MSCTs) based on Near Field Communication (NFC) or Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)”. The consultation will run for ten weeks before a final version of the document is prepared for publication on the EPC website.

The new document includes a chapter devoted to a number of MSCT use cases that use either uni-directional or bi-directional NFC between the payer and the payee devices. It also contains a chapter on MSCTs based on BLE some of which rely on the current work on the European ID wallet and eIDAS2.0. The document continues with an analysis on the usage of these technologies for payments, their security issues and the challenges to be addressed for market use (find out more in “related document”).

All interested stakeholders are invited to participate in the public consultation using the dedicated questionnaire (MSG MSCT 102-22v1.0) which can be found in “related documents” and should be completed and sent by email to mp.consultation@epc-cep.eu by 21 March 2023 at the latest.

Note that we have also published a slightly updated version of the following documents: “Specification of QR-codes for Mobile (Instant) Credit Transfers (MCTs) submitted to ISO” and “Standardisation of QR-codes for MSCTs” (see “related documents”).
