EPC Consultation: Mobile Contactless SEPA Card Payments Interoperability Implementation Guidelines

4 mai 2011

May 4, 2011 – The EPC’s Draft Mobile Contactless SEPA Card Payments Interoperability Implementation Guidelines are released for public consultation. In July 2010, the EPC published the first edition of a white paper [EPC6] which provides a high-level description of m-payments in general and, more specifically, of mobile contactless card payments.

This present document is aimed at readers who require more detail on implementation guidance for mobile contactless payments covering business, technical, security and legal aspects. Stakeholders are invited to provide comments by 17 June 2011.

The European Payments Council (EPC) is committed to advancing a sustainable mobile contactless payments ecosystem through the delivery of implementation guidelines that promote an interoperable and flexible architecture. The Draft Mobile Contactless SEPA Card Payments Interoperability Implementation Guidelines are the EPC’s most recent contribution to the development of this ecosystem. These guidelines will enable the quick development and implementation of mobile solutions by: promoting the use of open standards; clarifying the roles of key stakeholders; positioning the responsibilities of the EPC in relation to other industry bodies and defining the adequate level of security for the whole mobile payment value chain in order to establish confidence in this environment.

The final version of the EPC Mobile Contactless SEPA Card Payments Interoperability Implementation Guidelines is expected to be published by October 2011.
