Electronic fiscal cash register market: Romanian leader Danubius completes first acquisition in its 30-year history

14 octombrie 2026

Danubius, a leader in fiscal solutions and payment technologies in Romania, becomes sole shareholder of Milo Trading 2000 – a company which operates in the import and distribution of fiscal equipment and provides technical support services for cash registers and related equipment. In 2025, the company recorded a turnover of approximately RON 1.95 million.

The transaction supports the consolidation of Danubius’ operations and gives Milo Trading 2000 distributors access to a broader portfolio of products and services. Both companies will continue to operate independently, retaining their own teams, contracts and suppliers.

“The first acquisition in Danubius’ history marks a step forward in its strategy to strengthen and professionalize its operations in the electronic fiscal cash register (EFCR) market.” – according to the press release.

Danubius strengthens its operations by acquiring a pioneer in the fiscal equipment market

The acquisition agreement was signed in early October, following a nine-month process. As a result of the transaction, Danubius becomes the sole shareholder of Milo Trading 2000, with the operational takeover scheduled for completion in December 2026.

“The decision to acquire the company was based on Milo Trading 2000’s reputation, its extensive experience in the fiscal equipment sector and its commitment to the market. Both companies are among the pioneers of the industry in Romania.” – the company said.

In 1999, Milo Trading 2000 obtained distribution and use approval No. 0001 for electronic fiscal cash registers, under the regulatory framework established by Government Emergency Ordinance No. 28/1999 on the obligation of economic operators to use such equipment. Danubius, in turn, obtained technical approval No. 1 for a fiscal cash register. The experience and reputations built by both companies helped lay the groundwork for the transaction.

“This is the first transaction of its kind in Danubius’ history, and we hope it will not be the last. Milo Trading 2000 has a strong reputation and extensive experience in a sector to which we are equally committed. Through this acquisition, we aim to strengthen our operations and give our partners access to a wider range of products and services. We will certainly assess any future opportunities and, if they align with our development strategy, we will take action,” said Velin Ganev, CEO of Danubius Exim.

For Milo Trading 2000 distributors, the acquisition provides easier access to Danubius’ portfolio, enabling them to expand the range of products and services they offer their customers. At the same time, partners that do not currently work with Danubius will have the opportunity to become distributors of the company.

Milo Trading 2000 will retain its name and existing team, while its distribution approvals and domestic and international contracts will remain in force without any changes. Business operations will continue throughout the takeover process, with existing commercial relationships preserved.

The transaction does not involve a merger of the two companies. Danubius and Milo Trading 2000 will continue to operate independently, each retaining its own contracts and suppliers.
