India – Google launches Ask Google Pay, a Gemini AI assistant to help users track spending and save smarter

31 iulie 2026

The feature provides spending insights, savings recommendations, personalized financial guidance, and educational information directly within the app. Launching a Gemini-powered conversational AI in Google Pay, and partnering with SBI Card to expand access to everyday credit.

Introducing Ask Google Pay

While UPI has simplified and sped up digital payments, users often have questions about their money – from seeking guidance during a payment to understanding where their money was spent last month.

Starting today, we are launching Ask Google Pay, a new conversational experience built right into the app. Powered by our Gemini models, Ask Google Pay is an opt-in experience that helps you analyze your spending patterns and helps you with information related to managing your money. You can chat with it to understand your spending patterns, get savings tips, explore tailored offers (such as finding the right credit card for your travel expenses), and learn about financial concepts like SIPs or credit scores.” – said Sharath Bulusu, Senior Director – Product Management, Google Pay

Bulusu added: “Based on your transaction history and credit report data with Google Pay, you will receive personalized suggestions. You can get answers in a language you speak and understand, with support already available in 10 Indian languages. You can also decode financial terms and break down concepts like compounding interest or learn more about the differences between tax regimes.”

Ask Google Pay provides financial information and insights for educational purposes only.

Expanding everyday credit with the Google Pay Flex SBI Card

Earlier this year, Google introduced Flex by Google Pay, a reimagined credit card experience giving everyday customers confidence and control while democratizing access to credit. “Adoption has been strong, and we’re thrilled to now expand and partner with SBI Card to launch the Google Pay Flex SBI Card.”

Built on the RuPay network, this card furthers the universal acceptance of UPI by combining the simplicity and trust of Google Pay with the credit card expertise of SBI Card. Available starting today, with the Google Pay Flex SBI Card you can:

. Apply directly from within Google Pay in just a few minutes, with no physical paperwork required.

. Use the card on both RuPay and VISA payment networks, enabling the freedom to pay everywhere for big or small payments.

. Earn Stars that are instantly redeemable with every Flex transaction, offering immediate value where 1 Star = ₹1.

. Opt for flexible repayment options to convert your latest outstanding credit card bill into convenient EMIs.

Additionally, Google is bringing added benefits for Flex users. Rolling out soon, all Flex card customers will be eligible to access the Google AI Plus plan (including 400GB and 2TB storage) at 50 percent off for one year, while earning additional stars for their everyday purchases. Flex customers will also be able to get a discount across the entire range of Google Pixel smartphones.

“These launches are another step forward in our commitment to providing secure and accessible financial tools directly to every Indian.” – Bulusu concluded.
