At the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition 2026, Chinese tech firm Banma Intelligence and fintech giant Alipay unveiled a new AI-powered in-car system that allows drivers to make purchases using only their voice, Finews Asia reports.
The “AI cockpit” solution integrates Banma’s in-vehicle intelligence with Alipay AI Pay, enabling hands-free transactions without the need for a smartphone. The companies say the technology is designed to remove friction from in-car digital experiences as vehicles become increasingly software-driven.
«In the past two years, smart cockpits have made major strides in understanding user intent,» said Banma Chief Product Officer Ming Cai. «By adding voice-based payments, we’re eliminating one of the last barriers – drivers can now simply speak to complete a purchase.»
The system initially focuses on high-demand services such as entertainment and travel. Drivers can book movie tickets, reserve hotel rooms, or order food through voice commands. For instance, a user can say «buy two movie tickets,» and the system will select showtimes and seats before prompting for voice confirmation to finalize payment.
According to the companies, the AI cockpit has already completed integration testing with several major automakers. The feature is expected to debut in new vehicle models in the second half of 2026.
