Berlin Group openFinance has published the Roadmap 2026-2027 in a dedicated Workplan

13 ianuarie 2026

The new Workplan establishes the standardisation priorities for the next two years, underscoring the Berlin Group’s unwavering commitment to European Open Banking, Open Finance, and Open Data.

The Workplan 2026-2027 remains anchored in the robust Berlin Group openFinance API Framework Version 2 architecture. The achievements of the past years establish a strong platform for the initiatives outlined in the 2026–2027 Workplan.

Over the next two years, the program will among others build on last year’s deliverables for corporate use of existing AIS and PIS APIs and the related certificate, user, and account management. Several key administration functions, including User and User Certificate Management, new account opening for existing corporate clients, and Digital Euro account provisioning for known customers will be added to the Framework.

Additionally, the focus will be on enabling card clearing and settlement via openFinance Payment Initiation APIs and thus converging cards transactions efficiently with SEPA Instant Payments. This includes introducing a new EMV SCA channel and updating ISO 20022 containers for secure transport of EMV cryptograms and terminal data.

The Berlin Group will also start to address the next generation of automated connectivity in Agentic AI and Agentic Commerce: as AI Agents increasingly intermediate customer journeys, ranging from household assistants to corporate treasury copilots, the Berlin Group will conduct a comprehensive analysis to define the scope of standardisation required within the openFinance API Framework. This strategic focus aims to ensure that the Framework serves as the robust infrastructure needed to support the emerging era of autonomous financial transactions and automated banking channels.

Finally, Berlin Group stays committed to support new API Access Schemes (e.g. giroAPI, EPC SPAA), the EU Digital Identity Wallets, and the new regulatory requirements (PSD3, PSR, FIDA, and Digital Euro).

The new services embody an integrated strategy to enable a broad spectrum of use cases across all available Open Finance channels. By delivering a robust framework and an extensive suite of services, Berlin Group aims to empower individuals and businesses to fully harness the transformative potential of Open Banking, Open Finance, and Open Data.
