The Romanian Fintech Association announces the launch of RoFintech Spark Hackathon, the first national competition dedicated to early-stage fintech ideas. „The event is designed as a practical validation and launch platform for those aspiring to become founders in financial technology, offering an ideal setting to test and structure their ideas within a professional entrepreneurial framework.” – according to the press release.
Designed as a precursor to the upcoming RoFintech Spark Incubator, the hackathon will offer a structured environment for professionals from the financial industry and technology enthusiasts looking to test their ideas in front of mentors and a jury of industry leaders.
The event will take place between November 14–16, in an office venue in Bucharest, and will bring together teams aiming to transform business ideas into viable concepts. Participants will work alongside mentors and financial industry professionals, receiving valuable feedback in shaping their value proposition and business model.
The hackathon will conclude with a Demo Day in front of an audience of over 80 representatives from Romania’s financial and investment sectors. Teams will present the solutions they’ve developed, and the most promising ideas will be awarded.
“RoFintech Spark Hackathon was born from a simple but urgent observation: too many good fintech ideas never make it past the coffee-break stage,” said Cosmin Cosma, President of RoFintech. “With Spark Hackathon, we’re creating the first platform in Romania where such ideas can be taken seriously, tested, and supported to grow. This is the missing link in our ecosystem — and it’s our responsibility, as an association, to build it.”
“RoFintech Spark Hackathon is more than a weekend challenge. It’s the launchpad for the next generation of fintech founders,” added Tudor Darie, Vice President of RoFintech. “Through mentorship, feedback, and visibility, we aim to help participants move from early-stage ideas to validated concepts, ready for incubation and further development.”
Over the course of the three days, selected teams will participate in workshops, practical business
model sessions, and 1:1 mentoring. At the end, they will pitch their ideas to a jury composed of
investors, bankers, and public sector representatives. The winning team will receive the grand prize,
and the top three teams will be fast-tracked into the RoFintech Spark Incubator, where they will
receive support to further develop their ideas into real businesses.
