Since its founding in 1994, the company has played a key role in developing and implementing fiscal legislation, working closely with the Ministry of Finance, the National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF), the National Center for Financial Information, and the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics (ICI Bucharest), building fiscal systems and structures that support both merchants and the broader society.
With a portfolio of over one million fiscal devices sold during its 30 years of operation, Danubius Exim has consistently demonstrated its commitment to excellence and innovation. The company has pioneered the introduction of advanced technological solutions, constantly adapting to market needs, and anticipating global trends in fiscal systems.
“Danubius Exim was founded with a clear vision: to create solutions that simplify fiscal compliance, support merchants, and contribute to the country’s economic growth. This moment marks an anniversary and a reaffirmation of our commitment to innovation and excellence in the fiscal sector. Over the past 30 years, we have focused on developing solutions that simplify and streamline commercial processes, fostering Romania’s modern and transparent business environment. Celebrating three decades of activity is an opportunity to honor our past achievements but, more importantly, to lay the foundation for a future where innovation remains at the heart of our mission,” said Velin Ganev, CEO of Danubius Exim.
30 years of Danubius: a legacy of fiscal innovation
Over the past three decades, Danubius Exim has built a unique portfolio of products that have reshaped Romania’s fiscal equipment market. The company has become a trusted partner for merchants and a pioneer in creating solutions that simplify and optimize commercial processes.
In 2001, Danubius Exim launched Romania’s first portable cash register, revolutionizing the market with a compact and innovative product. At a time when cash registers were bulky and difficult to use, this portable device offered merchants unprecedented mobility and flexibility.
Another milestone came in 1999 when Danubius obtained the first technical certification (Aviz nr. 1) for the MP500TR model, the first fiscal device compliant with Romanian legislation. This achievement marked the beginning of a new era in fiscal systems, establishing Danubius Exim as a technological leader and a guarantor of fiscal compliance.
In recent years, the partnership with Banca Transilvania has resulted in the integration of banking POS terminals with fiscal cash registers—a first in Romania. This technology has streamlined payment processes, eliminating the need for separate equipment and reducing costs for merchants. The latest innovation from this collaboration is BlueCash 50, an all-in-one fiscal device that combines a cash register, a banking POS terminal, and a platform for business applications. This device simplifies operations, ensures fiscal compliance, and has quickly become the preferred choice for SMEs in Romania.
Additionally, the launch of the Danubius Store platform marked another significant innovation. Transforming fiscal devices into multifunctional digital hubs, Danubius Store provides merchants with access to a suite of applications for inventory management, sales analysis, and customer loyalty programs—valuable tools for operational efficiency and customer engagement.
Strategic Partnerships That Strengthen the Fiscal Market
Beyond technological innovation, Danubius Exim has forged strategic partnerships that have contributed to the development of Romania’s fiscal systems. Collaborations with private sector leaders such as Banca Transilvania, Footprints for Retail, or XIGA have driven the digital transformation of commercial processes and provided access to state-of-the-art technologies across key industries.
Under the leadership of CEO Velin Ganev, Danubius Exim also founded ADAMEF – The Association of Electronic Fiscal Equipment Distributors, which promotes dialogue between the fiscal industry and regulatory authorities. As president of ADAMEF, Velin Ganev has been instrumental in strengthening the legislative and operational framework for merchants.
A celebration of excellence
Danubius Exim celebrated its 30 years of innovation and excellence in the fiscal sector with an anniversary event at Palatul Bragadiru on November 30th. The event brought together partners, clients, authorities, and distributors to honor the company’s milestones, celebrate longstanding collaborations, and reaffirm Danubius’s commitment to supporting Romania’s business environment through innovative solutions and strategic partnerships.
