Worldline conclude a new strategic partnership in merchant acquiring in Italy which involves 66 banks and about 100,000 POS terminals, generating transacted volumes of more than 9 billion euros in 2023

The collaboration covers the provision of services along the value chain of digital payment acceptance and international acquiring for the 66 member banks of the Cassa Centrale Group.

Gruppo Cassa Centrale, Italy’s leading cooperative banking group, and Worldline, a global leader in payment services, announce that they have entered into a strategic partnership agreement in merchant acquiring following the exclusive negotiation that had been granted to the Italian subsidiary of the international payments group.


„The collaboration covers the provision of services along the value chain of digital payment acceptance and international acquiring, for the 1,480 bank branches of the Group’s 66 member banks affiliated with Cassa Centrale across Italy.” – according to the press release.

The project involves the supply and management of POS terminals and exclusive contracting for international circuits for about 100,000 POS terminals, generating transacted volumes of more than 9 billion euros in 2023.

„For the Cassa Centrale Banca Group, the initiative aims to further improve the quality of POS services offered to merchant customers by relaunching the offering with innovative and more competitive products and services on the market.” – the company explained.

The agreement also enables the Cassa Centrale Banca Group to generate medium-term benefits and implement one of the initiatives in the Group’s Strategic Plan 2023-2026. For Worldline, this partnership will further consolidate its prominent position in the Italian payments market.

The agreement is subject to approval by the relevant Authorities.
