Trustly is excited to announce a new partnership with Wizz Air. Through their new partnership with Trustly, which was made possible by Adyen, Wizz Air travelers in Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and the UK will be able to pay for flights directly from their bank accounts. Based in Hungary, Wizz Air is the preferred choice for around 40 million passengers a year.

„Wizz Air will benefit from Trustly’s unique collection model, which offers the fastest possible settlement, reduced fraud and instant refunds for travelers and will give Wizz Air maximum flexibility in its payments infrastructure,” according to the press release

As was clearly demonstrated during the Merchant Payment Ecosystem in Berlin in July, open banking is a hot topic around Europe. Merchants and consumers alike are increasingly excited about the possibilities it brings. Consumers are increasingly digitally savvy and have sky-high expectations for their customer experience. Open Banking allows the payment experience to be super simple right across the board, increasing customer satisfaction and reducing churn.

According to a recent Trustly report, 71% of airlines are now actively exploring implementing an account-to-account payment option1. These payments complement traditional card payments, offering customers more choice and reducing friction at checkout – and Wizz Air has shown that, as always, it’s at the head of the pack.

“For Wizz Air, Trustly was the obvious choice to provide a low-cost, simple and secure way for our customers to pay”, says Viktor Mura, Head of Tax, Treasury and Investor relations at Wizz Air. “Wizz Air is a value-oriented airline focused on innovation throughout the traveler journey, and we see a long term partnership with Trustly as a way to further strengthen our low-cost value proposition to customers in Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and the UK.”
